About me
Leading by Example Everyday
I am Angie Masthay-Bermudez, originally from Colombia, but have lived in Austin, Texas for over 9 years with my 16 year old son, 15 year old step son, and husband.
I was an elementary teacher for over 17 years. I was very dedicated and passionate, and devoted my all to it, never finding time for my own health and wellbeing. I struggled with weight loss and low self-esteem throughout my entire life, trying different diets mainly, finding no time to exercise.
In April, 2021, I tried a strength training program through an online platform and immediately fell in love with weights and the way that type of exercise made me feel. I started feeling more energized, stronger, healthier mentally and emotionally, mainly, and decided to change careers.
I became a certified personal trainer months later, and soon enough, I realized that nutrition played an essential part on anyone's fitness journey, then I became a nutrition coach. At this point and with so much information about nutrition out there, some truthful some not so much, I joined a program with the Harvard Medical School "Health and Wellness: Designing a Sustainable Nutrition Plan", in which I learned about the Six Pillars of Lifestyle Medicine and which completely changed my view on nutrition and overall health. I realized that to build a strong body you need to work on your mental and emotional health first and foremost, this way Strong Body Strong Mind was born.
